Our Therapies

DR NEIL CLAPTON

I am a friendly experienced Clinical Psychologist with extensive training, prolonged practice and expertise in a number of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), specializing in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). My clinical training and many years of clinical practice mean I am equipped to help people with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem/self-worth, and relationship difficulties. I can also work with people with more complex presentations, such as those who have experienced trauma of any type (e.g. PTSD, complex trauma/cPTSD).

I fully believe in the power of compassion and compassionate relationships to reduce and heal our suffering. Through my compassion-focused approach, I have seen countless times the profound impact that receiving compassion and helping people access self-compassion can have in helping them(selves) heal and flourish. This has often been with people who struggle immensely in being self-compassionate and in many cases did not believe it would be possible to develop this kind of relationship with themselves. Through the therapeutic relationship and compassion-focused work, I have seen and helped these people unblock and unlock their own innate wisdom and courage to free them from the cycles of suffering they often found themselves stuck in, through no fault of their own. This in turn allowed them to live life with greater ease and vitality. This can be YOUR journey through therapy too.

I pride myself in offering a warm, friendly, non-judgemental and supportive space where we can explore and understand your difficulties together, before drawing on a range of approaches and evidence-based practice to tailor therapy to best meet your specific needs. I always strive to meet whatever you bring to therapy with compassion, and help you access the strength and courage to make positive changes in your life.
